The powerful analog Garmin Instinct Crossover smartwatch has announced

Garmin has announced a new rugged analog smartwatch in the Instinct Crossover.

The watch combines the classic watch experience, including physical hands, with smart elements like notifications, GPS, and activity tracking. All this is rated MIL-STD-810, which means it can withstand extreme temperatures and temperatures, as well as a 10 ATM rating, so it can be taken for a dip.

Garmin Instinct Crossover’s luminous Super-LumiNova watch hands envelop a digital display, quickly moving out of your way when you need access to smart data. It’s way more functional than the Apple Watch Ultra, for example.

On top of data capture, you get all the usual trackable features, including sleep score, advanced sleep monitoring, VO2 Max, Pulse Ox2, fitness age, training/load/impact status, HRV status, and recovery time. You also get a Health Monitor activity that records key health metrics like body battery, pressure, and heart rate in one view.

You can sync the watch to your phone to get notifications, and it also supports Garmin Pay for contactless payments.

Elsewhere, choosing a solar model ensures a battery life that can be measured in months rather than days. Garmin believes it can last up to 70 days in smartwatch mode. If you choose non-solar mode, you can still expect nearly a month of battery life in smartwatch mode, and more than 110 hours in GPS mode.

The Garmin Instinct Crossover is available to buy now from the Garmin website at a starting price of £479.99 for the standard model, while the addition of solar technology brings that price up to £529.99. There’s also a Tactical Edition that supports night vision compatibility, stealth mode, dual-coordinate GPS and a key fob, plus solar charging, for £569.99.
