Oppo has confirmed that the Find X will be among the first smartphones to arrive on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, which is set to power some of the best phones of 2023.
During the Snapdragon Summit 2022 event, Oppo said that the main developments offered by the new chip will be “a leap in video, gaming and connectivity experiences.” Chief among them will be ray tracing within Android games.
The next generation Find X will arrive with capabilities similar to the current lineup of high-end game consoles and PC gamers. In short, it promises a new era of visual realism for Android games.

In a press release announcing the second generation of the next Find X, the phone manufacturer said that Oppo and Qualcomm are collaborating on developing a next-generation driver, to enable hardware-based ray tracing.
When run on a device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, with multiple ray tracing effects turned on, the best mobile games can run at a steady 60 frames per second with life like smooth shadows and reflections for the highest visual quality of games. Compared to the previous generation From software alone, it increased ray-tracing rendering efficiency by a factor of 5 and reduced CPU workload by 90%, the company said.”These advances will enable the mobile gaming industry to move away from its reliance on using software simulations to achieve ray-tracing effects, and instead provide lighting Advanced hyper-realism for complex and large-scale game scenes on mobile devices.”
Oppo said it was the only manufacturer to show off the technology at the Snapdragon Summit, but other Android manufacturers could potentially benefit if developers decide to incorporate ray tracing.
Elsewhere, Oppo promises a major boost in AI capabilities. It has worked with Qualcomm and Google to integrate Google Cloud Vertex AI NAS technology. This is a first for smartphones. “The new solution will enhance the energy efficiency and latency of AI processing on mobile devices,” says Oppo.
OPPO achieves 27% reduction in target detection algorithm power and 40% reduction in computing latency. Together, these improvements will enable AI models to train more energy-efficiently and hardware-friendly in a shorter timeframe,” the release continues.
It’s not clear when the Oppo Find X will arrive, but it has to be some point in the next few months if the company plans to be among the first to rock the 2nd generation.
