Poco F4 launched with Snapdragon 870, 64MP camera, and more

Xiaomi’s affordable Pocophone lineup has expanded with the official launch of the Poco F4, which brings some minor improvements over its predecessor in an updated chassis.

Unlike the latest Poco F4 GT, the standard F4 is not in direct competition with the biggest and best smartphones of 2022. Instead, it offers some cuts to help achieve a lower price point.

There is a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED flat panel which has a center punch-hole and displays a maximum brightness of 900 nits. Inside, Xiaomi has opted to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor instead of the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is paired with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In case you weren’t aware, the basic internals are almost identical to last year’s Poco F3. Although it’s disappointing, there are a few other tweaks that might help offset this with a 4,500mAh battery including now 67W wired fast charging. This is a significant increase over the previously seen 33W speeds and can overclock the Poco F4 in less than 40 minutes.

On the back, the Poco F4’s camera setup now consists of a 64MP main sensor with OIS, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. The selfie camera is rated 20MP and turns off the Samsung S5K3T2 ISOCELL sensor for the Sony IMX 596.

The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is back, but you can also use software-based face unlock for secure unlocking with the Poco F4. Android 12 comes pre-installed but Xiaomi has not confirmed the exact update schedule for the device.

You’ll be able to get the Xiaomi Poco F4 at €400 for the 6/128GB option or €450 for the 8/256GB model in select markets around the world in Moonlight Silver, Night Black and Nebula Green.
