Xiaomi offshoot Pocophone has now officially launched another gaming-focused Android – this time in the form of the Poco F4 GT.
The Poco F4 GT focuses squarely on mobile gamers, and includes a number of hardware modifications that are reminiscent of last year’s Poco F3 GT. Effectively, the Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming has been rebranded, and it includes the familiar 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display with a 480Hz touch sampling rate with a central aperture.
The interior matches some of the biggest flagships of 2022, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The battery weighs 4700mAh and includes 120W ultra-fast charging via a USB-C cable and a charger inside the box. It is claimed that the Poco F4 GT can go from 0 to 100% in just under 17 minutes with a 120W charger. This drops to 27 minutes while gaming but an adaptive charging feature is included to help conserve battery life.
Like last year’s gaming-focused model, the Poco F4 GT also includes mechanical shoulder triggers that pop and hide using magnets. The launchers should help ardent mobile gamers get immersed in the game by minimizing the onscreen UI elements. JBL tuned speakers and RGB lighting complement the player’s aesthetic. Security is provided by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner located on the power button.
Being a gaming phone, the camera setup is not a primary focus. The main camera sensor used in the Poco F4 GT is a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro. The selfie camera is rated at 20 MP.
The Poco F4 GT comes with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 pre-installed on Android 12 with the default Poco Launcher offering a different flavor of the operating system. The price of the Poco F4 GT will start at 699 euros for the 8/128GB version and 749 euros for the 12/256GB version and is available in black, gray and yellow. Early buyers will be able to get a dual device at €499 and €599 as part of the Early Bird pricing plan. That’s not all, early adopters will also get two months of YouTube Premium with an eligible purchase starting April 28.
