The upcoming Harry Potter RPG Hogwarts Legacy will not contain quidditch, but will allow you to fly with a broomstick.
Fantasy sports have been a staple of the Harry Potter franchise since the first novel, and fans have been eagerly waiting to see if she’ll appear in Hogwarts Legacy. New Q&A post (Opens in a new tab) On the game’s website it confirms that players will not be trying their hand at the sport when the game releases next year.
The FAQ page says: “Quidditch is not playable in Hogwarts Legacy.” “However, the Broom Ride for Broom Traverse Challenges and Broom Race are part of the game. Players can also fly brooms to explore new and familiar locations surrounding Hogwarts Castle.”

Quidditch has always been a fan favorite part of the Harry Potter universe, even the inspiration for a realistic sports simulation of the magical game. She has appeared heavily in the original novels and movie series and has appeared in some of the older Harry Potter video games from the past few decades.
But its deletion from Hogwarts Legacy isn’t too surprising. Recreating an entire fantasy sport within a really big RPG is a difficult task. Between designing all the additional gameplay mechanics, creating unique animations, producing new dialogue, passing it all through QA testers, and then finding a way to integrate it into the main game without feeling like it’s bogged down aside, adding Quidditch can’t be a quick job.
Not that you’ll be completely broomless in the final. Designed as an open-world RPG, Hogwarts Legacy will have you exploring an honorary wizarding school, the nearby village of Hogsmeade, and the Forbidden Forest. play excerpt (Opens in a new tab) You have already shown that you will be able to take a tour of those places on the back of a flying hippo or a magic broomstick.
It is possible, though not confirmed, that larger expansions of the game will be released after launch. Developer Avalanche has also created several cosmetic DLC packs as pre-order bonuses. Given the popularity of Quidditch among Harry Potter fans, and its strong association with the brand, we wouldn’t be surprised if the fantasy sport was added in some form through post-launch DLC.
Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10th on PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. But if quidditch doesn’t appear, don’t expect wizard’s chess to appear either.
