Galaxy Watch 5 price leaks indicate a slight increase

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 was a great device overall, and it was also a very good value. Now, we’re getting our first tip on the price Samsung is asking for the Galaxy Watch 5, and it points to a slight increase.

According to Roland Quandt WinFutureSamsung may raise the price of its Galaxy Watch 5 slightly. This conclusion is based on prices in Europe, where Samsung appears to be adding about 30 Euro to the price in its base model.

Quandt claims that the basic 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 will cost around 300 euros, with the 44mm variant jumping to 350 euros. Meanwhile, LTE versions will cost €50 on top of those prices, priced at 350 and 400 respectively.

By comparison, Samsung started prices for the Galaxy Watch 4 series at 269 Euro for the 40mm size and 299 Euro for the 44mm model, at least in Germany. Those prices translate largely into the US, where the Watch 4 starts at $249 and moves up to $299 for the 44mm size. It seems reasonable to expect a price jump of between $30 and $50 for the new models.

As reported, and featured in a Samsung app, there is no Galaxy Watch 5 Classic on the way. But in its place, it has the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro in the lineup, and it looks like it’s going to be an expensive option.

Quandt says the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will start at around 490 Euro for the Bluetooth-only model, and 540 Euro for the LTE option. It suggests that Samsung may charge more than $400 for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro in the US, but of course that’s not clear yet. As always with international pricing leaks, there is plenty of room for error in the conversion.

Finally, this leak also supports the color options that Samsung has in store. It appears that the 40mm model will be available in rose gold, gray and silver, while the 44mm model will ditch rose gold for a blue color. It looks like the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will be available in black and titanium.

This is in line with a leak from last week, which named those colors as black titanium, gray titanium, graphite, silver, sapphire (blue), and rose gold.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 5 series in mid-August.
