WhatsApp is one of the most used communication tools in the world. While the app is reasonably easy to use for new users, there are some great capabilities hidden within its settings menu. This can improve your overall experience by enabling you to post high quality photographs, peek into collections, and more. Here are five tips for WhatsApp.
Peek at group chats without informing members
The little blue ticks that let people know that you’ve read their WhatsApp message may be turned off, as they are known. While it is useful for maintaining some anonymity, group chats cannot use this functionality. When you open a message in a group and read it, the sender can see that you did it. Some users choose to extend their alerts from the notification bar to avoid detection. However, this is ineffective when there are many messages to catch up with. Another solution is the home screen widget for WhatsApp. The scrollable interface allows you to view all unread messages in a group while remaining undetected. WhatsApp unread messages widget can be placed on your home screen.
To do this, go to your home screen and long press on a space to display your home screen options. When you see the three WhatsApp tools, select the second and drag it to your home screen. For best results, resize it to at least 4×4.
Set the default message timer for chats to disappear
You can use WhatsApp’s built-in message timer to automatically delete all new chat messages after a predetermined period of time. If you want to keep your chat history clear, you can simply set a timer that applies to all new chats in the app instead of manually deleting your messages for each session or manually setting the fade in messages for each chat.
Go to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy and select the default message timer setting to get this done. You can set a 24-hour, 7-day, or 90-day limit in it, and this option will be applied to every message you write in future chats. To disable the functionality, you can return here.
Enhanced caliber of uploaded photos
When you send images to contacts or groups on WhatsApp, you may have noticed that the images are highly compressed. When this happens, the images lose a great deal of their original information and sometimes even make small readable text in the images unreadable when they are sent.
The default is to save data, but you can change it to use more data to send better photos by going to WhatsApp Settings > Storage & Data and scrolling to Image upload quality. To share photos with less compression and more safety details, you can set the default to “best quality” in this area. Remember that sending images as documents allows you to send them in their original high-quality condition without any compression at all.
Add chat/group shortcuts to your home screen
You can create one-click shortcuts directly to specific contacts or groups on your Android home screen if you talk to them frequently. By clicking on it, you can skip opening WhatsApp and painstakingly search for your desired chat and access it directly instead.
Enter an individual or group chat to get started. Then, in the upper-right corner, click on the three dots and select “More” from the list of options. The last option, which reads “Add Shortcut”, should appear after a few possibilities. When you click on it, WhatsApp will provide you with a shortcut icon that you can manually move around your home screen as needed.
Manage your storage
Like most users who have used WhatsApp for some time, you are likely to have a lot of unresolved app data taking up space on your phone. This can contain old photos and movies that you may not need anymore, but it still takes up a lot of storage space. If you work with a lot of media files, you may be able to save gigabytes of storage space.
Go to WhatsApp Settings > Storage & Data > Manage Storage to check and delete any unnecessary WhatsApp data and free up space. The amount of storage your WhatsApp account uses on your phone is displayed in a graph along with the list of conversations that use the most data, broken down by individual chat. Additionally, you can review and delete bulk forwarded messages and larger files with the help of simple shortcuts that will lead you there.
