Apple on Monday released iOS 16 beta 5 to developers. Since we’re only a month away from the official release of iOS 16 to the public, today’s beta comes with some minor changes – although some of them are very interesting. One such change is a new audio alert that the Find My app uses when users ping a missing iPhone or iPad.
Apple’s Find My app allows users to see the location of their iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple devices on a map. There, users can lock a lost device or even send a sound alert to it, making it easy to find the device when it’s near you.
For years, the Find My beep has been the same, which was basically the classic radar beep. With iOS 16 beta 5, Apple introduced a new sound alert for the Find My app, which now has modern ringtones. Users using the latest iOS 16 beta build can hear the new audio alert by pinging their iPhone or iPad through the Find My app or paired Apple Watch.

iOS 16 doesn’t bring any major changes to Apple’s Find My app, except for a new option that lets users uninstall the app if they want to. Of course, without the Find My app, users won’t be able to see the location of their Apple devices, AirTags, or other compatible accessories.
In addition, the iOS 16 beta 5 released today also brings to developers the battery percentage in the system status bar of recent iPhones. Since the iPhone X, Apple has removed the battery percentage from iPhones because the indicator didn’t fit in the notch area. Now, the company has finally given users the option to show the percentage inside the battery icon.
