FIFA 23 will finally include women’s club football

FIFA 23 may be EA Sports’ last football game with the name of the governing body attached, but it also sets the table for whatever the future holds for football matches.

Not only has Chelsea and Australia star Sam Kerr joined Kylian Mbappe on the cover of FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition, the game is also including women’s club football for the first time.

The major leagues of England and France will be represented in FIFA 23, which means you will be able to play seasons in Barclay’s FA Super League and Arkema Division 1.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 for men and the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 will also be added to the game at no additional cost at a later date.

FIFA already has international women’s teams since FIFA 2016, but it’s time for female football fans to be about to represent their favorite teams at club level. However, there are only two leagues which means a lot of the biggest teams miss out.

There is some room for EA Sports to build on this, although it has split with FIFA over licensing fees, as both parties seek a new direction going forward.

So, as is highly likely, EA Sports will make another soccer game next year – perhaps under the terrible EA Sports FC moniker? – The publisher can continue to make deals with individual women’s tournaments around the world, but will lose access to future FIFA tournaments.
